THESE ARE NOT THE ACTUALL SITE RULES THESE ARE THE RULES THAT WE WILL EVENTUAL USE. FOR NOW FOLLOW THE ONES ON THE ACTUALL SITE.
A. Match Rules
Four stock. No time limit. No items.
Team attack on/off is decided by the poster. If you accept a match with team attack on/off then you must play as such.
A match is played best out of three games.
Only the loser(s) may change characters.
The first map is randomly chosen with the exception of the following neutral maps:
Battlefield
Final Destination
Yoshi's Island
Smashville
Lylat Cruise
The second map is chosen by the loser of the first game and may only be counter-pick or neutral stages. The third stage must be a counter-pick stage or neutral stage, as listed below:
Halberd
Delfino Plaza
Castle Siege
Skyworld
Pokemon Stadium 2
Pokemon Stadium
Luigi's Manson
Green Greens
Brinstar
Norfair
Pirate ship
Frigate Orphan
B. General rules
Lag tests are recommended, but optional for matches. They must be announced before a match starts. If a team does a lag test and the lag is too bad to play in, the match may be cancelled, but only at the start of the game immediately after the lag test. If a ranked match is started then the game can no longer be cancelled or it will count as a loss. In-game lag tests are not allowed. If a team quits because of lag while in a match they are disqualified.
If a team is disconnected from the internet during a match, the match is restarted. If you have suspision that a team is disconecting on purpose send us a video or inform us of the problem we will check previous feed back..
We have a zero tolerance cheating policy, if a player is caught cheating their team and account will be warned and then deleted.
If there is a problem with any matches send us any evidence you may have.
For team matches, players may be on the same Wii. This is allowed for two reasons. 1) The Wii online play is implemented through a server and not host connections so it will benefit the entire party by provided a better overall connection. 2) The doubles ladder is team based, you have to be able to communicate with your partner if possible.
C. If any comments or suggestions please contact us and we will listen to what you have to say.
*These are now just rules in the proces of making to get comments etc on. Follow the rules on the main site for now. These will be the new rules in the nest couple of days.

I think 3 stock would be better, team attack on always also Delfine Plaza should move to counter pick cuz it can screw you over, not a good stage imo.

Unfortunately the four stock is a tournament standard so that will stay put for now and we went with team attack as the choice of the poster to experiment a little. You will have the option of selecting it on when you post the match and you can see if someone has it on before you select a match so essentially it's up to you on how often its implemented. Delfino Plaza could be changed, we are going to have to actually re-evaluate the levels. These are rules we wrote a while ago and I just but them up, go to the rules link on the site and read those, they are a little update (except for the levels).

What about Pirate Ship? I think it should be considered as counterpick. It has about the same level of threat as Halberd...maybe less.

Make a list of stages that you think should or shouldn't be in, and any other rules you think should be created.
Thank you, Chum

Not sure on electroplankton but Chum removed Corneria because you can infinitely trap another character against the back wall using the neutral A attack or chain grabbing. Send Chum a PM on Smash Battles and ask him about Electroplankton.

no electroplankon or cornieria? Those should be counterpick. I love corneria lol...electroplankton is clearly the best stage in Brawl =P And I do agree with you on Corneria...it is one of the better stages. but there trying to abide to tournament regulations and Corneria isn't on the list =(

We also have implemented the golden rule: if you both agree to a rule change before hand and you have it on record in the chat of that match then you can play by those rules.

I don't see why you guys would allow infinite chain grabs with ice climbers but not allow an infinite lock on Corneria.
Contradictory rules.

I would say its because the difficulty of the alternating grabs. Unless you have tried to do them you have no idea how long it takes to even get remotely good with it or how much you still mess up with it once you think you have mastered it. In addition its really not that hard to get out of it, just dont get grabed or pick a stage that is bad for the ice climbers . Corneria involves holding down an A button for an infinite lock. It may still open for counter picking in the future, I am just looking at other tournaments and seeing what they pick for their counter-picks. A majority of the high level events ban corneria because of the wall, but because of the wall it does deserve to be a counter pick (just not right now). It can give another character a advantage/disadvatage and that is what determines a counter pick. So it may be legal in the future and to determine that give a list of reasons you think it should be in or give reason why levels or other certain things should be banned.

It doesn't really matter the skill involved with achieving the infinite lock. The fact is that once you're grabbed, there's nothing you can do to get out of it. The final results for both locks are the same. You can simply say, "To avoid the wall lock, stay away from the wall."
And don't base our counter-picks off of other tournaments. The whole reason Josh made this site was to be different from others because of their flaws. Basing everything of ours off of other people's rules kind of makes this place useless if its no different.
I think Corneria should be included in counter-picks for the following reasons: 1. The wall is easily avoidable because is static. 2. Hazards appear in Halberd and it is a counter-pick. 3. It is generally a favorite stage among players (at least people I've talked to). 4. We should offer more a of variety from other online Brawl site's choices, otherwise there's no point in choosing this site over any other.

There is stuff you can do to get out of the grabs. Josh seems to do it perfectly. I have been able to get the lock once on him. Plus the lock is stoped by tripping which for the ice climbers happens about 2-3% of the time. It isn't as great as you think it is, you see it once then put the controler down and walk away. Instead you be finding ways to stop it, thats what Josh did at least. On the other hand good point on Corneria, but on the other hand what stages shouldn't be counter picks. Spear pillar has hazards too so why don't we pick that level? At a certain point one has to stop having levels added to the list. I believe that we could certainly use more levels but no more then 3 or 4 new ones. We don't need to offer more of variety we need to offer the best counter picks. More levels to choose from is not a reason to come here. The reason to come here is because we are trying to have a great set of rules, that will enforce. Plus if variety mattered we could have every stage legal but I can garrentee you if that was the case we would actually have less people come to the site. This site is for competivite brawl and the community as a whole decides on what is competitive, not just this site. Allisbrawl.com, Smashboards.com, Brawlcentral.com all have a say in what the competitve stages should be because when debates on those sites come together that is how the offical tier list and stage list comes from. I think you should go read debates and forums from those sites because that is where I get a lot of my ideas from.

Spear Pillar, although fun, has a lot of stupid ways to kill people. It can reverse the controls, and the bottom level makes it hard to actually kill people by spiking, which is why I didn't suggest it.
I never said add all the levels, I just said make the levels here different than elsewhere.
And once again you misinterpret my words. There are ways to prevent the lock by avoiding being grabbed. Once the grab and throw has started, there is nothing I can do to stop it but hope you trip.
I do more reading about Brawl than you give me credit for, mind you, I just never practice any of the stuff I read about.
